形態特徵

Evergreen shrubs; young branches and buds covered with silvery-brown scales.
Leaves chartaceous, elliptic to obovate, 5–10 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, acute or obtuse or rounded at the apex, obtuse or rounded at the base, the lateral veins 6–7 pairs, partially covered with brwon or rarely silvery scales on the abaxial side; petioles 0.7–1 cm long.
Flowers silvery-brown, solitary on the long branches and 2–8 in a shortened raceme on the short branches; perianth-tube 5–6 mm long, the lobes 4, triangularly ovate, 2.5–2.8 mm long; stamens 4, the anthers elliptic, 11.5–1.8 mm long, the filaments about 0.8 mm long; style glabrous, the stigma about 3 mm long, glandular-papillate.
Fruit broadly elliptic to elliptic, 1.4–1.8 cm long, red-orange; seed 1.7–1.8 cm long.

世界 : From China, the Ryukyus to Japan. In the thichets throughout the island below the altitude 2,200 m.
